Wine Spectator 93
Plum and fresh herbs, such as tarragon and oregano. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a fruity, wet earth character. Rich and chewy. Lots of fruit and tannins in reserve.

James Suckling 91
A layered and rich wine, with plums and toasted oak. Full and round, lots of fruit. Long finish. 
 
 
Vinous 91
 The 1998 Carobric, on the other hand, captures a beautiful middle ground. It is not as ripe as either the 1997 or 2000, nor as structured as 1996, 1999 or 2001, yet it offers highly attractive nuances of super-ripe fruit, chocolate and toasted oak flavors, with a deeply brooding personality, great length and beautifully well-integrated tannins. 1998 remains one of my favorite Scavino vintages for current drinking.
